Mario was my guide for a recent trip to Lalibela, and I couldn’t have asked for more. He knows a lot about the churches and also found a really special place for us to visit outside the city. He took care of all the logistics (which can be very challenging in Ethiopia!) and made everything work seamlessly. He is also an ace photographer and we walked away with wonderful photos from the trip. I highly recommend him!

I recently spent 3 days in Lalibela with Hailemariam (Mario) as my guide and cannot recommend him highly enough! My friend and I were very impressed not only by Mario’s knowledge of local history (both modern and ancient), but also by his passion for Lalibela’s beautiful churches and traditions. Mario’s English was perfect and it’s obvious that he is highlight trained and professional as a guide. He listened to the things my friend and I wanted to prioritize during our short time and he went above and beyond to make sure we were safe, comfortable, and that we experienced all Lalibela has to offer. He provided us with helpful guidance on local etiquette as well. As a bonus, Mario is a patient photographer and helped me and my friend get some really neat photos.
